Diverticulitis of the Cecum

Abstract
|
|
|
Diverticulosis and diverticulitis of large bowel are one of the commonest diseases in geriatric patient in America and Europe. But, in Korea, which are extremely rare diseases.
Through last 10 years at Younsei University Medical Center 4 cases of the cecal diverticulitis were seen to the contrary sigmoid diverticulitis was not operated in same period.
The cecal diverticulitis is very difficult to differentiate from appendicitis because of very similar symptoms and signs of appendicitis.
We report these 4 cases of cecal diverticulitis reviewing references.
In pathological findings, of these 4 cases one case was contained 3 layers of large bowel, seemed to be congenital, and false type in one, and last two were not confirmed because of incidentally found during rectal cancer surgery.
